This bot wouldn't be what it is today without the help and feedback from some incredible people. I'm grateful for everyone who took the time to test features, provide feedback, and help shape Egg Shen Bot into something genuinely useful for the community.
In Memory of Victor Wong
Before thanking the people who helped build this bot, I want to honor the man who inspired its name.
Victor Wong brought Egg Shen to life in Big Trouble in Little China (1986), and his performance made me fall in love with filmmaking. The way he balanced wisdom with humor, mysticism with practicality—Egg Shen wasn't just a wizard, he was the heart of that story. Victor Wong had this incredible ability to make you believe in magic while keeping you grounded in humanity.
Beyond Big Trouble in Little China, Victor Wong graced so many films that shaped my love of cinema:
- Prince of Darkness (1987) - His portrayal of Professor Birack added gravitas to Carpenter's cosmic horror
- Tremors (1990) - Even a small role showed his range and presence
- Seven Years in Tibet (1997) - Brought depth and authenticity to the story
- 3 Ninjas (1992) - Made Grandpa Mori a character that inspired a generation (yes, I'm a Millennial with Gen X sensibilities in my heart)
Victor Wong left us in 2001, but his work continues to inspire. This bot carries his character's name because Egg Shen represents something I aspire to: being helpful, knowledgeable, and maybe a little bit magical in unexpected ways.
Thank you, Victor Wong, for showing us that great acting transcends any single role. You made us believe.
